About Me

I'm Yu Yao Yang. My friends call me YY for short, and very close people call me Yang. I have a huge curiousity about cosmology, especially when younger. I would always try to read about it. I also love music but unfortunately I don't have the time and money to learn more instruments. Currently, I have a strong interest in Information Technology, particularly Cyber Security, which is why I am pursuing a Diploma in that field.

Important Events

My first public performance was when I was in Primary 5. I was the drummer in Lion Dance and my CCA had to perform for the school during Chinese New Year. It was very memorable as it gave me my first stage experience and instilled some confidence in me. In secondary school, I had many chances to perform as I was in a performing arts CCA: Concert Band. We collaborated with Modern Dance and put up a year end performance in school in 2015. In 2016, I started to be involved in my school's annual Speech Day and National Day Parade. We also went for a major competition, which was also my first. We went for the Singapore International Band Festival and clutched a Bronze award. I also got a chance to perform with my band at the Asian Civilisations Museum.

In 2017, we went for two band exchanges. One in St. Joseph's Institution with many other schools participating and one in National Junior College. It was very interesting as we got to meet other school bands and we managed to learn from each other. I also went for my second major competition with the band: the Singapore Youth Festival. We managed to get a Silver award. We were also invited to perform at Hillview CC for the National Day Observance Ceremony. Finally in 2018, I stepped down with my cohort from our CCA. It was a very fun 4 year journey with them and I definitely didn't regret joining.
